Dr. Kannan is a traditional Kathakali performer. He is specialized in Pacha, Kathi and minukku Veshams in Kathakali. He is good in classical plays like Kalakeyavadham and Kirmeeravadham; at the same time he is good in romantic plays like Nalacharitham and Rugmangadacharitam. He has experience in traditional performance for more than 40 years. He has performed not only in India, but in several cities all over the world.
Cholliyattam Performance
Dr. Kannan is a Cholliyattam performer. Traditionally Cholliyattam is the performance of Kathakali without its conventional make-up and costumes. Dr. Kannan choreographed a number of new Cholliyattam items. A glimpse of his performance in the UK is given in the above picture. This was a cholliyattam adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth cholliyattam.
Theatre Performance
Dr Kannan has performed many theatre presentations other than traditional Kathakali performance.
